Component Selection Dialog

This dialog is designed to assist in finding a specific component that was mentioned in an error message. There are a variety of error messages which include different types of component identifiers as listed in the Search By section of the dialog below:

Component Identifier When an error is displayed, a Component Identifier is included in the message. Copy the identifier from the error message and post it here.
Search By There are different types of identifiers used in error messages. Select the identifier options which corresponds to the error message:
  • Instance Id
  • Persistent Element Path (PEP)
  • GUID
  • Element ID
Locate By By default, the component is located by selecting (highlighting) it in the drawing. Click the Zoom option if you would also prefer to window zoom into the component. You can adjust the Zoom Factor using the sliding scale.

Enter the information from the error message into the dialog and click OK to search for the component. The component with the given identifier is selected in the drawing. You can view the component information in the Properties dialog.

Synchronization Error Log File

OpenPlant PID now generates a log file (OPPID_Sync.log) to record errors during the synchronization process. The log file is located in the following location:

...\Users\$User$\AppData\Roaming\Bentley\OpenPlantPID\Logs\

The error information, such as Instance ID or GUIDs in this log file can be used in conjunction with the Component Selection dialog to identify the components which have caused errors during the sync process.
